So, Bush is Preisdent of the United States for another 4 years. I should be fearing this more than most people are, but all the political hate lately has just kinda made me just say "eh" to the whole thing. I dunno why. I voted for Kerry, but I think deep down I knew Bush would win.

I am never taking a class to write for Woodcrest again. As I said before, our theme is immigration, of which I honestly don't really give a damn one way or the other. And if I don't care about what I'm writing about, it's not going to turn out good. Well, I decided to try and mask my care by making it anime-related, and basically decided to rip off Otaku no Video. Unfortunately, every time I try to type the damn thing, my hands freeze up or I end up doing something else. I literally dread writing this thing, and I have to do a 2nd writing assignment now! Ugh. I thought this would be better than the Non-fiction class because it's called "Creative Writing," but I guess I was expecting a free-forum writing course, not something like this. Oh well. Hopefully I can pull out with a B. :(

I hate this course. Very much.

Hooray! I'm posting! I've completely forgotten about Live Journal since I've gotten back to college (or pretty much everything else except for ToonZone, I really need to get back to Suki Nihon). Anyway, what have I been up to?

-Classes. Evil classes.

Web Graphics Design: We just got finished making our first site (I'll post it in DeviantArt sometime this week), and are currently doing a side-site for Halloween before we start our second project, which is 3 different styles of websites.

SEM 300: All about Justice, we just had a debate about if Capital Punishment was good or not. I said yes, because death is cool. Our previous debate last week was about euthanasia (assisted suicide), and I was for euthanasia again (and our sides are chosen the day of the debate). Other than that, I'm desperately not trying to fall asleep in class, as it's at 9:35AM. Oy.

Ethics: This class is soooo boring. It's basically a lecture all day long, though last class was pretty good for me because I got to complain about the BS lawsuit against Channel One. The lawyers don't want advertising in schools (which is only 2 minutes), and I say that Channel One is harmless, and I watched it for 7 years. :/

Creative Writing: This class might have been fun, if we didn't have to write about Immigration. See, it's Cabrini's 50th Anniversary, and Mother Cabrini was all about helping immigrants, and I have 0 experience whatsoever. Right now I'm trying to do a copy of Otaku no Video, and it's kinda sorta coming together...kinda.

Acting: 2 & 1/2 hours of playing games. It's a fun class and all, but not exactly memorable. It's just kinda...there. I often forget what time the class starts since it's a 12:30 double-block (meaning it takes up two class periods) and I have 1:50PM classes the rest of the week.

-Anime: Azumanga Daioh, Pokémon Advanced, Case Closed/Detective Conan, and Gundam SEED are my main DVD collections now, though I need to get Azumanga Daioh Vol. 5...I want money...;_; Somebody hire me! I am getting Zeta Gundam for X-Mas, which rocks. ^_^ I've also become obsessed with Naruto (I have all 105 episodes so far) and Gundam SEED Destiny (despite the fact that I haven't seen all of SEED)

-Manga: Rurouni Kenshin going monthy is happy news to me. Not having the money to buy said manga is sad news to me. I've also got all of Naruto so far, as well as all of One Piece, Tsubasa, Sgt. Frog, Bleach, Prince of Tennis, and Gundam SEED Astray so far. Also just recently got a bunch of Gundam Wing sidestory manga.

-Games: Aside from being on a FireRed binge earlier in the year, I haven't played any games at all. -_- Right now I'm training for the Elite Four, despite the fact that I haven't played since September.

-TV: Aside from PTI weekdays, Navy NCIS and Celebrity Blackjack on Tuesdays, and Kids' WB!/FoxBox/Jetix on Saturdays, all I watch is Cartoon Network. Saturday nights rock with Toonami, but I'm still angry they moved Gundam SEED to Friday Night/Saturday morning at 1AM, and with no intro even! >.<

-Internet: Like I said, I've been very active on ToonZone (http://www.toonzone.net) and have pretty much neglected every other website. Also, I've removed every anime community from my LiveJournal, as they disgust me.

-Sports: Browns can't do their jobs. They were supposed to lose to the Ravens and beat the Eagles, and they did neither. Dammit. Ravens are doing decently, but we could seriously use a GOOD veteran WR, and Jamal Lewis back. Oh, and hopefully Ogden's injury isn't serious. Oh, and go Sox!

At least I kept my promise from last post: It wasn't four months until my next post. :P

GASP! Can it be!? ME, Duke, POSTING IN MY LIVEJOURNAL!? Surely it's a joke, right? Nope, I'm alive!!!!

So, what have I been up to since April?

-I made the Dean's List this year again, making it 2 semesters out of 4 my average has been above 3.5 for a semester (the average is about 3.4). I recieve an award in October because of this.

-Got a bunch of DVDs over the summer, including the Gundam SEED Starter Set, most of Cardcaptor Sakura, all of Dai-Guard, the rest of Legend of the Mystical Ninja, started Azumanga Daioh, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles anime. Also picked up the first season of Slayers. And the really bad live-action Gundam movie G-Savior.

-I have been obsessed with the first theme to Gundam SEED, which is Invoke. It's on three of my CDs (Anime Intro Collection Volume 1, Gundam SEED Complete Best, TM Revolution's Coordinate), and I've been listening to this one song for the past 2 hours. :)

-Was on vacation with my Mom last week. Went to the Science Center to see the renovations. Wasn't much there, they just seemed to space it out more. :/

-My Mom recieved a gift certificate of $200 to Nordstroms about a year ago. Last month, she finally managed to spend it. Now she has $5.69 left. :P About friggin time. Oh, and we ate at the Cafe too. Took them 20 minutes to make a Chicken Salad sandwich and microwave some Chicken Tenders. Neither of which were very good. The store-bought potato chips were also stale.

-I've been on a manga binge lately. Currently I have Azumanga Daioh Volume 1; Prince of Tennis Volumes 1 & 2; One Piece Volumes 1, 2, 3 & 4; Naruto Volume 1; Bleach! 1 & 2; Tsubasa Volume 1; Rurouni Kenshin Volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6; Gundam SEED Astray Volume 1; The Rising Stars of Manga Volume 3; and Sgt. Frog Volumes 1 & 2. All of them are awesome and highly recommended, especially Tsubasa and Sgt. Frog.

-I spent the Thursday before Otakon and Sunday after Otakon watching anime with Jay & Jim in their hotel room. Unfortunately, I only go to see Neo for about 3 minutes. :( But I did get a lot of free stuff including a LOT of posters, free manga, and free tote bags.

-I'm being charged $25 for a parking fee for Cabrini, despite the fact that I don't own a car...

-I promise that it'll be less than 4 months when I post again. :P

I'm doing my third college for Digital Imaging, and I need help. It has to have the word "comics" somewhere in the collage, and I was thinking of putting it as a slogan to the word "manga." I've settled on two slogans:

"Comics from the East"

"Not Your Daddy's Comics."

Which one should I use? Or, if you have a better suggestion, list it in the comments.

This has been a crappy week. After a month of peacefulness, the fire alarms went off again. This time someone apparently sprayed a fire extinguisher all over the hallway, so we had to evacuate for a half-hour while they cleaned up. Jay & I went over to Mirella's (the local 24-hour diner), and stayed there for a while.

Not only that, but it seems like everything is due in class and I haven't gotten as much done as I wanted to. I hate this week. I am so glad it's ending.

I must say, Confuse Ray and Endeavor saved my ass against the Boss of Mt. Battle. He had a Flygon and a Gyarados out, both the last Pokémon. All of my other Pokémon were fainted, and Gyarados had inflated attack and speed. Also, both Gyarados and Flygon could use Earthquake. So, I confused Flygon, giving myself a few turns while it hit itself and I used Endeavor with Hitmontop. Gyarados then used Hyper Beam and left Hitmontop with 7HP, so when he used Endeavor, Gyarados was also left with 7HP. That allowed Hitmontop to finish it off with Triple Kick while Umbreon finished off Flygon with Bite. I don't even want to see the Level 80 Pokémon down the line...

Heh, I keep forgetting I have thing thing. ^_^;;

Hmm, so what's been going on in the past month I haven't posted?

-Went on Spring Break last week of Feb. and first week of March. Went down to Florida to visit a friend of my mom's. Went around doing suburbia stuff over the weekend, then went to Epcot. Epcot was OK, not really something I'd visit again. It was cool seeing Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Lupin III, and Evangelion at Disney though. :P Got two DVDs, Animation Runner Kuromi and FLCL Volume 1, as well as two really cool dragon shirts.

-I was given a job at Suki Nihon. Once Philip finally re-configures the site access page to let me in, I can start updating. Wee!

-Got Beast Wars: Season 2 at fye by selling some of my other DVDs. Ah, the glorious Transmetals. How they friggin rock. And poor Dinobot...

-Got Pokémon Colloseum on Wednesday, already racked up almost 25 hours on the thing. I just caught Suicune last night.

-School-wise, here's how it's going:

Writing for Non-Publication: Just turned in my Woodcrest manuscript (Which was a lot harder than it should have been, and I didn't do as well as I could have on that), now working on my Book Proposal and Query Letter.
Digital Imaging: We're finishing up our second collage (One about Cabrini), and starting on our third one. My subject will be comic books, but since I'm me, I'm doing it on manga. Unfortunately, my teacher likes photographs more than illustrations (then why offer Comics as a subject?).
Photography for Publication: I just handed in my second Loquitur assignment yesterday. I also just showed off my second assignment for the class last Wednesday. I'm currently putting up my snow pictures over at my DA page, and have almost reached 100 Deviations.
Intro to Mass Communication: We start our fourth debate Tuesday, about media conglomeration. So far I've gotten at least a 90 on every one of my papers and analysis, which is really good.
Television and Human Behavior: I will never take another Psychology class again. The topic I want to do for my term paper I can't because scholars haven't written much on anime, and those studies are for the craze of Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! Heaven forbid I actually study what I've been watching for the past decade and a half...

In case you don't know already, Cartoon Network announced their yearly Initiative today, and some good things came out of it.

-Toonami is leaving weekdays starting April 19th and 2 days earlier, launches their new Saturday block. From 7PM-Midnight is full Toonami. However, this Toonami will be targeting teens only, no 6-11 demos. It will also premiere with Megas XLR (formerly known as LowBrow, last seen on Giant Robot Week) and Gundam SEED and new episodes of Dragonball GT and YuYu Hakusho. This opens up a new area for Toonami originals and some killer app anime such as One Piece or Naruto.

-Adult Swim moves to Saturdays as well on the same night, kicking off with The Animatrix. The next week is 2 new episodes of InuYasha (which might move to Toonami with the new demo) each week, with Wolf's Rain coming later.

-The weekday Toonami will be replaced by Miguzi, a new block that is interactive and will target the 6-11 demo. The first lineup will consist of Totally Spies!, a new show called Code LYOKO, the new TMNT, and Teen Titans.

-Puffy AmiYumi, the duo who sing the Teen Titans theme song, is getting their own series. It looks...interesting.

-Justice League is getting a revamp. The original 7 return (though Hawkgirl, Flash, and J'honn are a mystery) plus a whole slew of new guest stars and a new half-hour format instead of the previous hour-long format. To accomidate this, the show is being renamed Justice League Unlimited.
